In her intriguing presentation, Healing Movement, Nicole Dickmeyer, founder of Diversified Mobile PT, a mobile Outpatient Physical and Occupational Therapy practice demonstrates her team’s dedication to caring for the entire patient. Nicole highlights the multi-disciplinary approach to caring for patients with cancer by focusing on meeting the patient’s needs while promoting functional independence and minimizing side effects of treatment.  Join us for a comprehensive and informative presentation on the role of physical therapy for individuals with cancer, ensuring that attendees leave with a clear understanding of its significance in improving patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives: 

1) Describe the benefits of physical therapy in managing cancer-related symptoms, including pain, fatigue, weakness, range of motion limitations, lymphedema, and wound care.

2) Explain common physical therapy interventions and recognize the importance of tailoring physical therapy interventions to meet the unique needs and conditions of individual cancer patients, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, posture and movement re-education, and energy conservation techniques.

3) Describe how physical therapy contributes to improving emotional well-being, preventing complications, and enhancing overall quality of life during and after cancer treatment.

4) Outline the role of physical therapists within a multidisciplinary team and how they collaborate with oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to offer practical strategies for prevention of functional decline and optimize patient outcomes throughout the patient’s rehabilitation process.


About the Speaker

Dr. Nicole Dickmeyer is the founder of Diversified Mobile PT and received her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2010. She founded Diversified Mobile PT in 2024 with the goal of delivering quality mobile Outpatient physical therapy to patient’s homes by a practitioner who cares for the entire patient. Nicole has cultivated a profound expertise in infection control and advanced wound care within her 14 years of dedicated experience in both Home Health Care and skilled nursing facilities. Her commitment to excellence led her to join the elite group of wound specialists in the United States and become a board Certified Wound Specialist (CWS®️) in 2024, through the American Board of Wound Management. Nicole's passion extends beyond her own practice; she is a natural educator, having trained numerous clinicians within her interdisciplinary team, including PTs, PTAs, OTs, COTAs, RNs, and LPNs. What drives Nicole's passion is the tangible progress she witnesses in her patients' wounds, coupled with her adeptness in performing serial wound assessments that require critical thinking skills, especially in cases of delayed wound healing. As a valued team member, she remains dedicated to achieving the best possible outcomes for every patient under her care.
